Karamū Coprosma robusta
Our Karamū has been picked by our team upholding Tikanga Māori.
Traditionally used to relieve kidney, bladder, stomach complaints and to increase urine flow. It also aids in reducing inflammation. Early settlers to New Zealand drank Karamū to replace china tea. It is an easy tea to drink with a pleasant taste, add Kawakawa for added benefits.
Why we like Karamū and how we prepare;
These are my own experiences with Karamū. I enjoy Karamū either on it's own or with Kawakawa during the day to help increase urine flow and for it helps to suppress appetite. I add a few leaves straight into my pot and pour over hot water to let it brew for a few minutes. I like to brew mine for 10+ minutes, each person will have a different preference so try sipping at 5mins and if ok leave for longer. It has a pleasant taste especially when adding Kawakawa.
