Like all teas, it originates from the plant - Camellia Sinsensis. What makes black tea different is the way its processed. The leaves are allowed to fully oxidize before they are heat-processed and dried. During this process, oxygen interacts with the tea plant's cell wall and turns the leaves a rich dark brown to black colour that black teas are famous for. The flavour profile ranges from sweet to savoury, depending on the process. If brewed correctly it should be smooth and flavourful. Common flavour traits; malty, brisk, earthy, sweet, caramel and honey. A premium hand-picked tea from Assam, India. Grown at sea level in a warm climate, Assam tea is known for its full-bodied malty flavour, deep aroma and a brisk taste. Naturally high in caffeine, with a rich supply of plant compounds, it may boost immunity, as well as a healthy heart and brain function. It's great as a breakfast tea, shared with your guest or if you are like me I love to take a flask of tea on my hikes - this is great when on the colder tracks to warm up and refresh again. Every tea lover needs Black Assam tea in the pantry!
Add a lemon slice for an interesting twist.
